Holiday Home Tour 2017 Ohio
'Tis the season to be jolly and 'tis the season to decorate! Seriously… who doesn't love decorating their home for the holidays? There's just something about a home filled with beautiful decorations that makes me feel like a kid again. The Christmas nostalgia is real!
I'm so excited to let y'all know that I've teamed up with a fabulous set of lady bloggers to bring you a Home for the Holidays Blog Hop. There's so much beautiful holiday inspo going on in this group of gals. I hope that you're able to gather a number of ideas for your Christmas decor. Also, be sure to pin and share your favorite ideas along the way! If you scroll down to the bottom of this post, you can find a list of all the participating bloggers.
And now, welcome to The Holtz House: Holiday Edition…
Entryway
Believe it or not, I actually started dreaming up my theme for this year's Christmas decor this past summer. I know… it sounds totally crazy! But- summer flea markets are a great place to snag some awesome items to incorporate within your holiday decorating. When I stumbled upon this green tackle box pictured above, it served as my inspiration. This year, I decided to go with a traditional red and green theme with vintage touches. No sparkle and bling… just neutral colors and natural woods.
When I attended the Urban Farmgirl Main Street Market in September, I stumbled upon this gorgeous vintage sled and knew that it had to be mine. It was perfection once I added the ice skates and decorative Christmas swag. I originally wanted to add this to our front porch decor, but I liked it so much that I decided I would get to look at it a whole lot more indoors. 😉

Living Room
I just love decorating our fireplace for each season. It serves as the focal point for our open concept living space, so I feel that it always sets the tone for the rest of the living room, kitchen and dining areas. Most of my new holiday decor was purchased from Target. Between the Dollar Spot and the new Hearth and Hand by Magnolia line, there was so much to choose from. The white ceramic items on my mantel are all from the Dollar Spot including the houses, trees and star stocking holders.
After taking these photos, I debated leaving my tree "naked" for the season. I just love the simple look! I've since changed my mind, and opted for a white and woods tree for this year. You'll have to check back to see the completed look.
If there's one thing I know for sure… it's not the holiday season without a bunch of Christmas pillows. You must have an abundance of pillows, because it creates such comfy/cozy living room space. I'm a little pillow-obsessed. I'm not sure my husband shares my enthusiasm as he's always tossing them on the floor. Haha!
Of course, it wouldn't be a home tour of The Holtz House without including our pup, Nilla. She's such a little photo bomber… always doing her best to jump in all my photos. It definitely makes photo shoot day very interesting!

Kitchen
Next we'll be working our way into my favorite room in our house, the kitchen! This year, I loved the idea of creating mini wreaths to tie to the back of all of our chairs in both the kitchen and dining nook. If you're looking to create your own, I've got the easiest tutorial here using garland found in the Target Dollar Spot. Would you believe it?
No holiday kitchen would be complete without a Hot Cocoa/Coffee Bar for the season! Once I saw the Christmas decor hit the shelves at Michael's, and saw this adorable little sign, I knew it would be a perfect fit.
I also incorporated my Rae Dunn holiday mug collection, a few candy canes and a little red cake stand that I picked up from the Target Dollar Spot last year. There's nothing like warming up with a nice, hot beverage by the fireplace during cold, Illinois winters.

Dining Nook
In our open-concept home, we have less of an actual dining room and instead call it a dining nook since it's just off our kitchen. Over the summer, I had purchased these vintage enamelware plates to set the table. So I used them as my starting point, and built the entire tablescape look around them.
I always have so much fun styling our open pipe shelves for each season. I carried the traditional red and green elements and even threw in a few Rae Dunn accents. These shelves are one of my favorite DIY projects to date, and you'll be shocked how easy it is to build your own. They completely transform a boring empty wall!

Master Bedroom
For the grand finale of our tour, I wanted to do something completely different in our Master Bedroom than the rest of the house. I had the idea to do a white, Winter Wonderland theme for our room. I just fell in love with this dreamy, fluffy, faux fur coverlet set that I found on sale at Target this fall. Then I knew I had to go for it. This was my first time decorating my bedroom for the holiday season. It was a lot of fun, and I definitely plan on doing it each year. I just love having a fully-decorated holiday home.
I also purchased this mini 4 ft flocked tree from Wal-mart. This was my first time setting up a flocked tree, and I will say it was a very messy process. However, it turned out beautiful. I love the look of it, and it really doesn't need ornaments. However, I definitely need to find a mini tree skirt to go with it.
I think someone also approves of decorating the bedroom for the holiday season. 😉 She's definitely digging the new bedding.

And that's all folks for the Home for the Holidays Home Tour at The Holtz House. I can guarantee I'll be changing some of this around, and swaping some around, because I'm a compulsive re-decorator like that. haha! I hope you got some new holiday inspiration that you can use in your own home this year. If you have any questions about any of the decor pictured, leave a comment below. I love hearing from y'all! From our family to yours, we'd like to wish you a very happy holiday and a fantastic New Year! Cheers friends!
